Filmmaker Portfolio with a Merch Shop that Funds the Next Film
Carson Broom is a filmmaker based in West Virginia whose work spans short films, documentaries, and commercial projects. His site showcases featured titles like “Sarah’s Mess,” “Flip This Switch,” “Go Sports!,” “Trials, Tragedies & Triumphs,” and “The Last Gallows,” with a direct, personal intro and clear routes to watch, learn, and contact. He’s currently developing “Strawberry Bon Bon” and uses on-site merchandise sales to help fund production.

The Problem
Carson needed a portfolio that felt auteur-level but stayed fast and simple to run, with a shop that could sell film-branded merchandise and cleanly point revenue toward the next production. The site also had to make it effortless for viewers to jump from film pages to merch, and for collaborators to reach him without drowning in spam.
Our Approach
We designed a custom, minimalist site that centers on the filmmaker’s voice and work, featuring a tight homepage intro, a Featured Work grid, and film detail pages with trailers, credits, and “Shop & Support” tie-ins. We built a storefront for “Sarah’s Mess” merchandise with product detail pages, inventory statuses, and a lightweight cart/checkout experience that doesn’t clash with the brand tone. Calls to action connect film pages to products, allowing supporters to transition from viewing to purchasing in one click, thereby reinforcing the “fund the next film” loop. Hosting, SSL, backups, and updates are fully managed for reliability, and forms are protected to reduce spam while maintaining easy outreach for genuine users.
